Montana trip-Battle of Little Bighorn

Erik and I just got back from Montana. We went to photograph the reenactment of the Battle of Little Bighorn. There were two different locations for the reenactment-one on the actual battle site, and one just outside of Hardin county.
This is the scene of the wagons getting surrounded by Indians.
This gorgeous cloudy sky turned into a heavy rain the following day, the locals say if you don't like the weather in Montana wait 15 minutes.
Erik and I waited in the car for about 30 minutes, this shot is right before a torrential downpour.
But, the show must go on, and the battle got started a bit late and soggy.

Almost Summer, garden in bloom

The hydrangea path is in full bloom. The plants on the right received a dose of bluing treatment, otherwise they bloom like the pink one on the left.
Sweet peas climbing to the sky, these are over 7 feet tall.
This lily is also tall, well over my head, with large flowers.
I planted peony type poppies this year, they have large full blousey blooms, and giant seed pods

Tomatoes!!!  This plant is giant, taking up most of the upper bed, it has a lot of green fruit.
This appears to be the green stage of Speckled Roma, you can see some variation in pigment.
I labeled all of the tomatoes, but the plant are too big to find the labels, so there are some mystery tomatoes in action.
Dahlias, several flowers have put out blooms, some are still waiting.
This striped one is really neat, gotta get more stripes next year.
This was the first dahlia I ever planted, its been around 8 seasons.

Gorgeous clematis "Polish Spirit." Also the first clematis I ever bought when I worked at Trader Joes, now in its 7th season.
This is a new variety for me this year, clematis ‘Rooguchi.' It is a Japanese variety, with dark purple bells.

California Art Club Gala-Gold Medal Show

Last night we attended the CAC Gold Medal Show. It is located  at the Fisher Museum-University of Southern California, 823 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90089
We saw one of our favorite artists, and enthusiastic painters, Calvin Liang. He wanted to get a shot of us in front of our paintings...you can see my miniature behind us, and this lovely piece by Calvin:
The gold medal went to another favorite artist of mine, Ruo Li. This is the piece which took the grand prize:

Some close-ups of the waves, his paintings have such unique brush work, I wish I could steal some of it!

He also had this really nice piece in the show, my camera phone did not get the greatest shot of it:
If you get a chance, there are so many great pieces to be seen at the show, it is running through the 23rd of this month.
