Garden Awakening

The garden is starting to switch to Spring. Above are the very unique buds from Crested Damask rose. The flowers are very beautiful deep pink, and this old fashioned type of rose only blooms once a year.
This is another attempt to keep out the critters which loved my tomatoes and strawberries last year. It is an eyesore, but I hope it does the job.
Speaking of eyesores, this in ground bed needs work! What a dump.
Clematis "Guernsey Cream" about to bloom. Unique soft cream and green striped blooms. Can't recommend Clematis enough for the gardener, a huge variety of types and colors with ease of growth habit.
Penstemon- a hummingbird delicacy. Great for dry gardens that get some heat. Plant in well draining soil or it will die on you. I have lost many to the clay content of my soil.
Clivia-orange blooming shade lover with another part shade lover Hellebores behind it.
Euphobia-lime green unique arid loving plant. Bought one 10 years ago, and now have like 100. They explode seed heads in the summer and pop up everywhere. Super easy and unique plant.
Freesias, the best scented bloom around. I have to put them in pots as the animals get the bulbs. Part of the South African bulb family, great for our climate, and will naturalize if planted in the ground.
